World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total over 50 million watchers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball stated this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game drew 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase over the last finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game finished in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded 15.71M audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was 16.1M. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M watchers, an 8% increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since 2017.

MLB reported that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
