19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after March of that year.
Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his ability to play at the highest level was over.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
He came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.
The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to push for a final set.
Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
